Well… I arrived on Friday evening – Julian was bringing me by car. The student pastor welcomed us and so we were told within the first five minutes that we are supposed to leave again on Saturday for a weekend in a youth hostel. Traditionally many students stay the weekend before the term starts in this hostel. So we unpacked all five boxes on Friday evening and packed for the weekend trip. On this meeting we heard about student who were abroad and we got known to the first year students. It was good for Julian and me because we did not meet all students at once…
Julian and I went to the shopping area of Budapest on Sunday afternoon. We found a Subway which I am very happy about. And walked through the street drinking coffee. He left early on Monday morning. I am sure he will shout with me, but never mind: He had big problems to get home. But that is all I can tell. You can ask him why
I am not the only foreign student. There is Henrika from Finland. She will stay here until christmas. She already has learned some Hungarian. That is very helpful. Because we do many things together: Shopping, order an ID for the internet, paying for the keys … She is a nice girl and a little bit older than me. She introduced me to the three girls I met first of all students
I met Maria, an Hungarian girl. She studied in Neuendettelsau before I came and know she studies at Erlangen Theology and “Christliche Publizisitk”. She helped me a lot and it was big fun to talk to her. It is really sad that she left for Erlangen on Friday.
I have not visited many sights yet. Only the castle and the Lutheran Museum when I stayed in may. And on last Saturday I made my first trip all by myself to the city park with his bath and Agriculture Museum (yeah, I am a little bit proud of myself! My family always say that I get lost everywhere… but I did not! ×aellabaetsch×). But Pál, my neighbour, asked my to go out with him and his friends to opera. And on Saturday we are going to eat Indian. And Henrika and I are planning to visit some stuff this week…
What I am doing because I am still not studying and sight seeing? Nothing and reading romans
I have vacations! That is so great!!!! One week without doing anything! My first vacations after that disaster in Morocco last summer. Yeah…. but today I started learning Hungarian. I had my first lesson today. And I will visit lecturers about the Old Testament, Hungarian homiletic, Paul Tillich and Hungarian Church History. And I am still trying to organize vocal, guitar and piano lessons. In Hungary it takes a little bit longer to organize something…
Dear Augustanis: If you thought, you have a strange cafeteria, go to Hungary where it is the same. I am not sure, if it was better. Sometimes it is bad. Sometimes is completely bad, may be the pasta is fabulous. Sometimes everything is okay or almost perfect. You know I am a really difficult eater, but mostly I like the food they serve. But something they have definitely in common: every meal has to consist meat
The religious life: every morning, every evening: prayer. and every Wednesday a worship with communion. And always a lot of singing and music. It is nice. But may be I do not get bored by, because I do not understand one word? And so I do not must have a guilty conscience to be woolgathering? Well, who knows. This sunday the bishop was preaching in our church. It was live on TV. A big event. And a loooooong preach. That was even for me too long. It is funny to watch all the persons get bored and restless.
I think that are the main subjects of my first eleven days in Hungary. I always are delighted about emails
